Synopsis
Synopsis
Written by the court poet Sainapati, Sri Gur Sobha is one of the earliest surviving works on the life and legacy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Completed in 1711, it offers a near-contemporary poetic account of the Guru’s court, the creation of the Khalsa and the defining events of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
This English edition, translated by Prof. Kulwant Singh, makes an important Sikh historical source accessible to modern readers while retaining the character of the original Gurmukhi and Braj Bhasha text. A valuable volume for anyone interested in Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Khalsa tradition or primary Sikh historical literature.
This paperback edition has been reprinted by us to reduce both the cost and weight of the book, making this important work more affordable and easier to handle.
