This pioneering reference charts the work of European silversmiths who set up workshops in the major colonial centres of Calcutta, Madras, Bombay, Lucknow and beyond between 1790 and 1860. Wilkinson documents their patrons, stylistic influences and, crucially, the maker’s marks that distinguish Anglo-Indian silver from both British and indigenous production.
