Synopsis
Synopsis
This is the original Christie’s Elveden Hall sale catalogue set from the May 1984 on the premises auction held at Lord Iveagh’s Elveden Hall, the former residence of Maharajah Duleep Singh.
The estate, now owned by the Earls of Iveagh, was once home to the last true ruler of the Sikh Empire, and the 1984 sale included many of his remarkable possessions, including full length portraits of the Maharajah.
The set contains seven volumes in their original pictorial wraps. These include Pictures, Prints and Drawings, Furniture, Tapestries Textiles and Carpets, European and Oriental Ceramics, Silver, Books, and A History of Elveden written by Clive Aslet. All seven volumes are housed together in the original red cloth slipcase with gilt titles.
This is a rare and significant reference for collectors and historians interested in Maharajah Duleep Singh, Elveden Hall, and the material culture associated with the Sikh Empire.
