To raise awareness about preserving the Sikh community's valuable tangible heritage, the National Institute of Panjab Studies launched a significant initiative to digitize and catalogue rare manuscripts of the Guru Granth Sahib found across India and beyond.

During this fieldwork, approximately three hundred rare Guru Granth Sahib Birs were discovered, with over 250 already digitized. To disseminate the findings among scholars, an Illustrated Catalogue has been produced in four volumes. This catalogue provides essential information about these significant heritage items.
